Skimeter, innovation and safety for sports.

 History of the company

Skimeter was established in 2001 by two associates :
Paule Billard, financial advisor and architect, and Dr Marc-Hervé Binet, physician specialized in sports trauma.
It is more than a 25 years of experience in traumatology, epidemiology and winter sports prevention of accidents that took us to create products meant to assure safety in sport.
The experience with winter sports traumatology, the participation in national campaign to reduce winter sports accidents and the organization of a network of epidemiologic surveillance helped us to analyse the traumas and to know their working. A daily observation of many traumas allowed us to look more closely at the possible links between the type of material in use in safety equipment and the resulting accident.

With having conceived for many years product to treat traumas, the collaboration with industrial circles was natural.
The company was created to design, produce and commercialise a new product: an equipment for a safe and quick personal settings of ski bindings. It’s the experience with the accidents caused by a wrong ski bindings setting that lead us to conceive this easy to use equipment, which allows the ski shop to offer a personnalised setting to every customer.

The other lines of product were created to prevent snowboarding wrist accidents, to improve safety and comfort when wearing a ski or snowboard helmet and to protect the spine and other exposed zones when practicing a winter sport. Other applications for summer sports are now being developped.

The development of these product range were supported by Anvar and was awarded two BrandNewAward (2002, 2003) at ISPO, the winter sports trade fair held annually in Munich.

Other recognitions: Trophée des espoirs de l ‘économie de Haute-Savoie 2003, Rhônes-Alpes Region exportation support, …

Skimeter has an excellent working relationship with many of the leading brand names who are interested in its sport prevention expertise.
